About the Role
Climate Analytics is seeking a local expert to conduct a case study in Manila, Philippines, focusing on attributing extreme heat events and their impacts to human-induced climate change. The role involves data collection, literature research, and contextualizing a framework for regional realities.
Responsibilities
- Gather qualitative and quantitative data on socio-economic impacts of extreme heat from local sources.
- Conduct interviews with local stakeholders such as hospitals, health care providers, employers, and policymakers.
- Research current local heat-health adaptation interventions, policies, programs, and initiatives.
- Provide local expertise on socio-economic context, local characteristics, and social norms.
- Prepare bi-weekly progress reports and participate in update meetings and a final wrap-up session.
- Approach at least five local sources for data and conduct a minimum of six interviews with experts or key local stakeholders.
- Compile a living document of quantitative and qualitative impacts data with context.
- Prepare a living document summarizing policies, programs, and initiatives on heat-health adaptation.
- Deliver all finalized documents, transcripts, and summaries by the end of September 2026.
Requirements
- Must be physically based in or very near Manila, Philippines.
- Fluent in the relevant local language(s).
- Demonstrated experience in qualitative data collection, such as conducting interviews.
- Proven ability to engage with institutional stakeholders.
- Existing contacts or a clear strategy for accessing key data sources.
- Deep understanding of the socio-economic and cultural context of Manila, including the local labor market and health systems.
