About the Role

As a youth worker within our interim care team, you will provide direct support and mentorship to children and young people (generally aged 9-14 years). Your role will be to ensure a safe, homelike environment that supports children and young people to thrive, learning key life skills including independent living skills, problem solving and building appropriate and positive relationships with others.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct support and mentorship to children and young people.
  • Ensure a safe, homelike environment.
  • Support children and young people to learn key life skills including independent living skills, problem solving and building appropriate and positive relationships.
  • Work a roster which regularly includes afternoon, sleepover and weekend shifts.

Requirements

  • Experience supporting children and young people who have experienced childhood trauma, have a disability and/or exhibit pain-based behaviours of concern (ideally within a residential care setting).
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with children and young people through visible interest and active engagement.
  • An understanding of the importance of family/kinship connections to children and young people in placement.
  • Willingness to assist with activities of daily living, including personal care (if required).
  • Able to work a roster pattern that includes shifts across afternoon, overnight (including sleepover) and weekends.
  • A current Provide First Aid (HLTAID011) certificate.
  • A current driver’s licence.
  • Must clear probity checks including National Criminal History Record Check, NSW Working with Children Check and NSW Residential Care Workers Register check.
