Responsibilities
- Prepare statutory accounts in line with HMRC and Companies House requirements.
- Produce year-end accounts and financial statements.
- Prepare and submit VAT returns.
- Handle corporation tax and self-assessment tax returns.
- Manage client bookkeeping using software like Xero, QuickBooks, or Sage.
- Liaise directly with clients to gather financial information and provide advice.
- Support audits if working in an audit-enabled firm.
- Advise clients on tax efficiency and financial planning.
- Ensure compliance with UK accounting standards (e.g., FRS 102 / FRS 105).
Requirements
- Experience in a UK accountancy practice (typically 2–5+ years depending on level).
- Strong knowledge of UK tax rules and financial reporting standards.
- Proficiency in accounting software (Xero, QuickBooks, Sage).
- Good communication skills for client interaction.
- High attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
