About the Role

An integral part of the care team, the Prescription Access Liaison (PAL), will work independently in the clinic and pharmacy environment to establish strong, credible relationships with patients, clinicians, and internal pharmacy staff to help provide high level, specialized prescriptive care to patients beyond the scope of routine pharmacy practice in a timely and professional manner.

Responsibilities

  • Answer new referral intake and/or refill calls in a timely and professional manner.
  • Accurately input new referrals and update information in designated computer systems.
  • Coordinate with referral sources to obtain necessary information to initiate services for new patient referrals.
  • Enter new referral prescriptions into computer for pharmacist verification.
  • Contact patients to discuss Specialty Pharmacy scope of service and collect information for pharmacy profiles.
  • Communicate to stakeholders information for benefit, authorization, reauthorization, and reimbursement via email and scanning.
  • Discuss financial obligations with new patients.
  • Address insurance issues requiring alternate funding.
  • Work with clinical staff and patient assistance personnel.
  • Register and/or open patients with manufacturer reimbursement programs.
  • Follow up on authorizations to ensure achievement prior to dispensing.
  • Schedule dispensing calendar for new or refill customers.
  • Set up shipping arrangements.
  • Assist in co-pay collections.
  • Review dispensing calendar and assist with order entries and shipments daily.
  • Assist dispensing technicians with required refill requests at time of dispensing.
  • Assist in ordering medications and supplies, audit receipt of goods, review invoices, and route to appropriate contact.
  • Gather medications and supplies, labels, and have shipments verified by the pharmacist.
  • Follow up on shipping exceptions to inform patients of delays.
  • Complete tasks in compliance with ACHC/URAC accreditation standards and policies for the Specialty Pharmacy.
  • Maintain accurate and complete patient records.
  • Participate in pharmacy orientation, training programs, staff meetings, in-services, and other required programs.
  • Participate in the Performance Improvement Process.
  • Exemplify excellence in customer and client communication and service standards.
  • Assist in compiling necessary reports and/or audit information.
  • Assist in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness of the pharmacy.
  • Promptly report allegations of impropriety to the Compliance Department.
  • Comply with VytlOne’s Ethical Business Conduct policy and Compliance Program.
  • Remain free from exclusion under OIG and SAMS Medicare/Medicaid lists.
  • Complete assigned required training within established timeframes.
  • Cope with the mental and emotional stress of the position.
  • Maintain regular attendance in accordance with established policies and procedures.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • National Certified Pharmacy Technician license.
  • State Certified Pharmacy Technician license, depending on requirements by location.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of Pharmacy Tech experience.
  • Prior Pharmacy Technician experience in a high volume, fast paced pharmacy.

Skills

  • Fluent in Spanish or Hatian/Creole (preferred)
  • Ability to comply with clients’ occupational health requirements.
  • Ability to follow established safety, infection control, environmental, and isolation practices and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills for effective interaction with patients and staff.
  • Working knowledge of computer software, including applications, data entry, EMR documentation, and email.
  • Experience/understanding with medication prior authorization processes.
  • Specialty Pharmacy experience.
  • Customer service experience.
  • Flexibility to address unexpected pharmacy needs.
  • Ability to prioritize and self-manage workload.
  • Ability to analyze information and identify inconsistencies.
  • Continuous problem solving and quality improvement skills.
  • Ability to operate various types of pharmacy computer software and equipment.
  • Ability to access patient/drug information systems and accurately enter data.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both written and verbal.
