About the Role
This role serves as a lead designer on construction documents for electrical and lighting design across various markets including multifamily, commercial, high-rise, and hospitality. The position reports to the Product + Technology team leader. Key responsibilities include establishing and maintaining relationships with city plan reviewers and utility company designers to expedite and resolve design and construction issues, and ensuring the quality and effective execution of project assignments.
Responsibilities
- Apply industry experience with diverse projects to bring creativity and technical competence to engineering challenges.
- Share technical skills and expertise within the team to foster growth.
- Assist the team leader in task scheduling to ensure timely completion of deliverables based on client goals.
- Collaborate with the Team Leader to manage labor expectations, team workloads, and budgets for current and future projects.
- Enhance personal expertise through external training, self-study, and industry events.
- Communicate and track team member's technical progress, providing verbal and written feedback to associates and the Team Leader.
- Maintain excellent communication via email, phone, and in-person interactions.
- Work with the Team Leader to navigate complex or difficult communications with internal associates and clients.
- Inform Project Engineers, Team Leaders, and Project Managers of project progress and communicate design concerns to project managers and clients.
- Coordinate internal project deliverables with workflow documents, ensuring QAQC goals are met.
- Ensure reports, plans, and deliverables meet company quality standards and client-provided standards before submission.
- Review project deliverables as the design engineer to ensure client satisfaction and quality, minimizing errors and omissions.
- Maintain an open-door policy for staff project reviews, in-process training, and technical mentorship.
- Communicate skill or project deficiencies quickly and clearly to facilitate team adjustments consistent with company policies.
- Understand labor, utilization, timesheet, and project goals to coordinate effectively with the Team Leader on team goals and workload expectations.
Requirements
- Professional Engineer (PE) license or other professional registration/certification.
- Experience and desire to work in an open collaborative team environment.
- Authorization to work in the U.S. on a full-time basis.
