About the Role
The Medical Science Liaison serves as a key field-based scientific partner to healthcare providers, decision-makers, medical associations, and internal UCB colleagues, executing medical strategies to positively impact patients with chronic inflammatory diseases.
Responsibilities
- Maintain deep scientific knowledge in Dermatology, delivering clinical value propositions and engaging key decision-makers in medical groups, IDNs, and regional payers.
- Identify and support potential research expansion projects, collaborations, medical advisors, and educational partnership opportunities.
- Conduct local roundtables and education programs to enhance Key Opinion Leaders' understanding of unmet clinical needs.
- Serve as a scientific expert at medical and scientific conferences, advisory boards, clinical investigator meetings, and internal meetings.
- Support field-based cross-functional teams with medical expertise in access engagements and provide field updates for Standard Response Letter creation/updating.
- Review and critique scientific publications to inform healthcare trends in Dermatology.
- Collect, analyze, and communicate information on therapeutic areas, treatment options, emerging standards of care, and competitive intelligence, and address medical information inquiries.
- Provide effective clinical presentations to internal and external audiences, tailoring them for specific needs through peer-to-peer scientific exchange.
- Assess feasibility and serve as the primary liaison for unsolicited Investigator-Initiated Studies (IISs) from inception to publication.
Requirements
- Doctorate degree (PharmD, MD, DO or PhD in a relevant field) required.
- Valid US Driver’s License with no more than 3 moving violations in the past 2 years.
- Must reside within the assigned territory.
- Complete initial training and pass all assessments within 90 days of hire.
- Frequent business travel required, including overnights and some weekends.
- 3+ years of field medical experience (preferred).
- Immuno-dermatology experience (strongly preferred).
- Prior product launch experience (preferred).
- Basic business acumen with a solid understanding of the pharmaceutical industry (preferred).
- Basic knowledge and understanding of health economic principles and clinical trials (preferred).
- Ability to clearly articulate complex scientific concepts in 1:1 and group settings (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal skills and excellent verbal and written communication skills (preferred).
- Creative approach to problem solving and ability to work effectively in a constantly changing environment (preferred).
- Strong team player, able to effectively interface with internal departments (preferred).
- Strong time management and organizational skills with proficiency in Microsoft applications (preferred).
