About the Role

The Distribution Supervisor oversees a wide variety of distribution activities including receipt, storage, movement, and delivery of manufacturing materials & supplies, and general business supplies & parcels. This role is responsible for maintaining inventory and associated records and may assist a higher-level supervisor.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct daily supervision of distribution associates to ensure safe, clean, and efficient warehouse operations.
  • Develop and implement shipping work schedules and assignments for efficient operation.
  • Apply communication and motivational techniques in supervising, coaching, and disciplining employees.
  • Complete and conduct performance reviews.
  • Direct and supervise all outbound shipments to ensure accuracy and timeliness.
  • Tour the warehouse regularly to answer questions, evaluate operations, and solve problems.
  • Make recommendations to the Manager-Distribution and Material on programs to improve warehouse operations.
  • Allocate equipment for efficient utilization.
  • Coordinate with maintenance to implement a sound maintenance program.
  • Interact with other departmental management to achieve goals.
  • Attend warehouse planning meetings.
  • Ensure timely preparation and effective maintenance of all records and reports regarding warehouse activity.
  • Review operating goals and standards and monitor achievement.
  • Review warehouse operations daily to ensure organization and prevent damage to product, equipment, and facility.
  • Ensure adherence to all safety procedures and policies.
  • Operate in compliance with OSHA and other appropriate standards.
  • Ensure proper stock rotation.
  • Assist in conducting physical inventories and cycle counts as required.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining the operational budget as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • 5 years experience required
  • 1+ year leadership responsibility
  • Familiarity and experience with Microsoft Office applications including Excel and Word
  • Demonstrated leadership skills
  • Demonstrated organizational skills
  • Demonstrated communication skills
  • Understanding of warehousing operations
  • Emphasis on safety
  • Ability to handle stress caused by meeting deadlines with tight scheduling requirements
  • Ability to shift priorities easily
  • Trainer certification is a plus
  • Familiarity with computer systems is a plus
  • Familiarity with warehouse systems is a plus
  • Familiarity with computerized scanning equipment is a plus
  • Bilingual is a plus
