About the Role
Warehouse material handlers are responsible for accurate receiving, storing, picking, and shipping of products to meet Avantor standards of productivity, quality, safety, and customer service. This position is based in an industrial warehouse setting and is a position that is flexible to a wide array of duties within warehousing.
Responsibilities
- Perform various warehouse tasks.
- Unload trucks, trailers, and containers of freight; count products; compare to manifest; check all shipments for damage, infestation, or production code dates.
- Report shortages, damages, and mis-shipments on appropriate forms.
- Sign for inbound shipments when necessary.
- Move inbound shipments safely to storage locations for efficient stacking.
- Ensure correct product number, quantity, and type (lot, batch, serial number) of product are picked.
- Transport orders to shipping locations or delivery platforms using material handling equipment (e.g., fork trucks, cherry pickers, pallet jacks).
- Label, stencil, tag, mark orders, band, bundle, wrap, over-pack, and palletize as required.
- Compare quantity, labeling, and address with order to ensure outgoing shipments are complete and correct.
- Assign signature for outbound shipments as necessary.
- Efficiently move product, cartons, or pallets into trailers, rail cars, or containers.
- Maintain equipment in a neat, clean, and orderly fashion.
- Operate equipment safely and efficiently.
- Comply with company standards and OSHA requirements.
- Keep accurate records and reports.
- Assist in physical inventories and cycle counts.
- Ensure proper stock rotation.
- Key inventory adjustments in the computer.
- Repack or re-box cases per customer instructions.
- Repair and consolidate damaged goods as required.
- Operate shrink-wrap machine.
- Charge forklift battery as needed; stack or separate good from bad pallets.
- Clean railcars, trailers, and truck docks/bays as requested.
- Perform other assigned duties.
Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 75 pounds using proper techniques.
- Ability to follow directions with emphasis on safety.
- Ability to handle stress from meeting deadlines with tight scheduling requirements.
- Ability to shift priorities easily.
- Ability to use hands and feet simultaneously for repetitive movements.
- Responsible work habits.
- Familiarity with warehouse systems.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret SOPs, coverage documents, and regulations.
- Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- Ability to establish rapport, present information, and respond to questions from managers, clients, customers, and the public.
- Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s.
- Ability to perform operations using units of American money, weight measurement, volume, and distance.
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.
- Ability to deal with problems involving concrete variables in standardized situations.
- Ability to stand and walk for the majority of the working day.
- Ability to talk, hear, bend/stoop, squat, crawl, climb height, reach above shoulder height, crouch, kneel, balance, and push/pull.
- Ability to lift/carry/push or pull up to 75 pounds with or without assistance.
- Ability to use both hands for repetitive grasping and manipulating actions.
- Ability to use both feet for repetitive movement operating foot controls.
- Specific vision abilities: close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Salary/Compensations
- $35,500.00 - $56,925.00
