About the Role
Drive strategy and achieve wins for account teams advancing justice in areas like reproductive rights, labor, and environmental justice. This role involves impactful communications campaigns and mission-driven work, requiring experience in earned media and/or digital outreach, strong writing skills, and a passion for news.
Responsibilities
- Drive daily project execution and collaborate on communications strategy for multiple high-profile client accounts.
- Implement integrated campaigns using public affairs, media, and digital tactics to achieve client goals.
- Engage and maintain strong relationships with key reporters on advocacy issues.
- Write and edit persuasive external and internal documents, including press releases, op-eds, fact sheets, talking points, editorial board memos, and communications plans.
- Identify and engage with new media platforms, including independent journalists, news influencers, podcasts, and YouTube shows.
Requirements
- 3-4+ years of relevant work experience in strategic communications, media relations, advocacy, campaign politics, or journalism.
- Avid consumer of news with strong news sense, media knowledge, and experience maintaining relationships with key reporters covering current issues.
- Ability to multitask, manage multiple assignments, work quickly, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment with attention to detail.
- Personal commitment to and knowledge of social justice.
- Understands organizing and advocacy communications, including social media campaigning, web writing, politics, and media engagement for rapid response and long-lead stories.
