About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Service and maintain all Ground Service Equipment (GSE) at a designated station.
  • Ensure Swissport Ramp and other service agencies are safe with reliable equipment that meets all local and governing laws.
  • Operate and drive all types of GSE equipment, both motorized and non-motorized.
  • Perform preventive maintenance on all ground support equipment per established schedules.
  • Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic assessment of ground support equipment.
  • Learn and apply knowledge of hydraulic systems.
  • Complete airport deicing training and report to work during snow, ice, and cold weather emergencies, including overtime.
  • Work outdoors in all weather conditions year-round.
  • Remove malfunctioning GSE from service and ensure repairs are completed before returning to service.
  • Respond to emergency service calls and accidents involving GSE.
  • Complete all maintenance/repair documentation according to carrier, station, airport authority, and government requirements.
  • Comply with all security requirements from federal, provincial, municipal, airport authority, and carrier regulations.
  • Maintain a valid motor vehicle driver's license for both airside and non-airside in good standing.
  • Follow all safety guidelines set out by WCB, EPA, WHIMIS, and SP management.
  • Keep the GSE shop and its equipment clean and serviceable, reporting all deficiencies to management.
  • Fuel equipment as necessary, adhering to all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Liaise with Ramp management, customers, and staff in a professional manner.
  • Work as a self-starter and report to shop leads daily.

Requirements

  • Valid driver's license.
  • Willingness to learn hydraulic systems.
  • Willingness to undergo airport deicing training and work during weather emergencies.
  • Willingness to travel when necessary for training or to assist other SP stations.
  • Trade school training and/or a mechanical background preferred.
  • Good oral and verbal communication skills.
  • Good computer skills.
  • Willingness to clean and maintain a safe workshop.
