About the Role

We are seeking a Manager of Web Operations to oversee a large-scale, multi-site web ecosystem comprising hundreds of web properties serving millions of users. This hands-on leadership role requires architectural expertise for scale, operational excellence, and continuous improvement of site performance and evolution. You will manage the web platform's architecture and operational health, collaborate with an external agency, and lead a small internal team.

Responsibilities

  • Influence the technical architecture of a large, multi-site web ecosystem, ensuring scalability, performance, security, and documentation.
  • Influence platform patterns combining CMS-driven content with API-driven front-end experiences.
  • Define, build, and deploy reusable component libraries, integration patterns, and content modeling strategies.
  • Lead web operations, including release management and deployments.
  • Establish QA processes and governance standards for operating sites at scale.
  • Drive the development and rollout of interactive, conversion-focused features such as booking flows, dynamic forms, and calculators.
  • Manage the external agency relationship, coordinating sprints, prioritizing the backlog, and ensuring quality and timeliness.
  • Serve as the technical authority on complex web ecosystems, including APIs, CDNs, caching layers, and third-party integrations.
  • Manage, mentor, and develop 1–2 direct reports, supporting their growth and setting clear expectations.

Requirements

  • 7+ years in web development, platform engineering, or web operations.
  • 2+ years in a senior technical or team leadership role.
  • Proven experience operating multi-site web platforms at scale.
  • Proficiency in React (Next.js or Gatsby) and modern JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Strong understanding of modern web architecture: headless CMS, RESTful and GraphQL APIs, SSR, static generation, and edge caching.
  • Experience with enterprise CMS platforms and managed hosting environments.
  • Hands-on multi-site WordPress experience including custom plugin/theme development and Gutenberg block architecture.
  • Proven ability to manage small teams and collaborate effectively with external agency partners.
  • Excellent communication skills—able to translate technical complexity into clear business recommendations.
  • Candidates must be legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Offers within this range are determined based on relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, as well as internal equity considerations.
