About the Role
This role is critical for managing Teal Health's supply chain, including manufacturing, delivery, and lab operations for the Teal Wand. It involves end-to-end accountability for vendor relationships, inventory, and scaling from early commercial volumes to nationwide demand. This hands-on position requires comfort with regulated medical device manufacturing and a passion for expanding women's healthcare access.
Responsibilities
- Develop supply chain strategy, accountability systems, and risk mitigation plans aligned with company goals.
- Ensure Teal Wand manufacturing meets specifications, timelines, and budget; collaborate with QA and Regulatory on corrective actions and supplier quality.
- Source raw materials and components competitively; develop dual-sourcing strategies for critical inputs; lead cost-of-goods reduction initiatives, considering regulatory implications.
- Select, contract, and manage manufacturing, distribution, and shipping vendors to meet budget, quality, and timing SLAs; conduct QBRs and remediation; oversee 3PL services for direct mailing and sample returns.
- Select clinical lab partners; negotiate pricing and turnaround SLAs; collaborate with labs to implement automation for sample processing.
- Maintain accurate bill-of-materials and real-time inventory visibility; establish safety stock and reorder policies; prevent stockouts and overstock.
- Develop an operations dashboard for inventory, demand vs. supply, COGS trends, and vendor performance; proactively resolve issues.
- Collaborate with Commercial/Growth on forecasts and translate them into manufacturing and lab capacity plans.
- Utilize AI capabilities to enhance productivity, performance, and patient experience.
Requirements
- 8+ years in operations, supply chain, or manufacturing.
- Direct experience scaling a regulated medical device (FDA Class II or III) or comparable experience in diagnostics, pharma, or other quality-regulated industries.
- Proven track record managing contract manufacturers (CMs), 3PLs, and shipping vendors against cost, quality, and timing targets.
- Proven procurement and vendor negotiation skills; comfort with multi-year supply agreements.
- Strong analytical skills, including BOM management, COGS analysis, and inventory math; eagerness to leverage AI tools for problem-solving.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to translate operational realities into clear updates for leadership and the team.
Skills
- Experience with clinical lab operations or partnerships (CLIA labs, sample logistics, lab automation).
- Familiarity with ISO 13485, FDA 21 CFR Part 820, and supplier quality processes.
- Startup or early-stage experience, including building functions from the ground up.
- Passion for women's health.
