About the Role
Manages an insurance book of business, providing professional service to clients, carrier representatives, underwriters, business partners, and HUB colleagues. Manages complex risks and exposures, acting with a high degree of independent discretion and decision-making. Supports Producers and other staff in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business.
Responsibilities
- Assist Account Service Team in the Commercial Lines Department with account management functions.
- Perform general support functions to maintain active insurance policies.
- Collaborate with Producers and HUB personnel on client service, marketing, and renewals, adhering to best practices.
- Provide professional, courteous service to clients and partners to achieve high account retention.
- Oversee and perform transaction preparation, paperwork, and internal processing for assigned accounts, including acting as backup for support staff.
- Understand client insurance objectives and critically analyze and compare insurance plans for suitability.
- Coordinate the implementation of client strategic plans.
- Perform key value-added services including Pre-Renewal Strategic Planning, Risk ID Assessments, Contract Reviews, Claims Reviews, Market Analysis, Stewardship Reports, and Deductible Analysis.
- Coordinate value-added services provided by Risk Services and Claims Management Divisions.
- Act as liaison between clients and insurance carriers to resolve escalated complex service issues requiring policy interpretation and experience-based judgment.
- Negotiate with underwriters and carriers when needed.
- Troubleshoot claims and billing issues.
- Identify opportunities for cross-sell and up-sell of other HUB products and services.
- Document other insurance products and services clients purchase through other providers.
- May be responsible for account rounding and new business development.
- Manage, organize, and conduct client meetings, either independently or with a producer.
- Maintain accurate and organized account files by documenting conversations with clients and carrier representatives.
- Update all HUB computer systems and automated agency management systems, ensuring data accuracy.
- Prepare reports, proposals, and comparisons for management as required.
- Seek continued knowledge and stay abreast of changes in the insurance industry and external conditions impacting clients.
- Make appropriate recommendations to clients in response to industry changes.
- Attend industry-related continuing education training and courses.
- Oversee functions performed by less experienced Account Managers and Assistant Account Managers.
- Support, mentor, and train other support staff members.
- Provide high-level support to Sales staff in obtaining, maintaining, and expanding business.
- Perform other duties and projects as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma / GED
- 5+ years account management experience (brokerage preferred) or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Property & Causality License

- Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.
- Effective and professional oral and written communication with internal and external customers.
- Efficient information gathering, analysis, and problem-solving.
- Ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks for timely and accurate completion.
- Ability to respond to customer needs, solicit feedback, and handle difficult or emotional customer situations promptly and accurately.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook.
- Critical thinking: ability to use logic and reasoning to identify strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions.
- Desire to learn and grow within the insurance industry.
