About the Role
This intermediate-level Life Science Technician II role supports Flagship Lab Services, acting as a floater to cover multiple labs in the South San Francisco/Bay area. Responsibilities include performing unskilled lab services, maintenance, dock services, assisting with corrective work orders, preventative maintenance, and manual tasks like moving equipment and materials, along with on-site routine maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Monitor, clean, and maintain hood traps, incubators, and water baths
- Assist with content transfers during cold storage unit failures
- Monitor and dump waste containers
- Prepare buffers
- Maintain LN2 Freezer Pro and Cold Storage contact records annually
- Perform glass wash/autoclave, stocking, and replenishment of clean/sterilized materials
- Collaborate with team to close out workspaces for former employees and prepare for new hires
- Maintain service tickets in the lab equipment service system, ensuring service completion and documentation
- Submit and follow-through on all printer issue tickets
- Perform general lab housekeeping, including lab clean outs and cardboard removal
- Process all pipettes for annual calibration
- Handle hazardous waste, bio bins, and bio-waste disposal safely
- Clean and maintain Decon equipment
- Monitor and manage alarms
- Monitor automation systems
- Escort vendors and contractors
- Perform other assigned duties
Requirements
- Must have valid DL and clean driving record
- Ability to follow oral and written orders
- Ability to complete tasks and paperwork with basic supervision
- May require an active driver’s license and personal vehicle
- Ability to stand, crouch, and climb to perform repairs and manual labor
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
- Authorized to work in the U.S.
Skills
- Computer skills (Excel, Word, Outlook)
- Basic knowledge of building & lab management systems
- Basic inventory and tool safety
- Manual dexterity sufficient to use hand tools and paint
- Vision (with correction) sufficient for reading, performing repairs, and painting
