About the Role
Okta secures AI by building trusted, neutral infrastructure, enabling organizations to safely embrace this new era. This role requires a relentless drive to solve complex challenges with real-world stakes, seeking builders and owners who operate with speed, urgency, and excellence. This is a career-defining opportunity. We are seeking a versatile, highly collaborative Senior Media Specialist to lead end-to-end creative, video, and media production within the Developer Marketing team. This "player-coach" role balances high-level strategy with tactical execution, acting as a "taste-maker" and consultant to ensure content is visually stunning, on-brand, and resonates with a technical audience. The specialist will also create or revise assets, direct external contractors, collaborate with internal stakeholders, and build design templates or edit videos. Beyond creation, this role involves architecting creative operations, scouting new tools, building efficient workflows, and creating scalable templates for self-service content creation.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage the lifecycle of video projects from initial concept and strategy through post-production and deployment.
- Act as an internal creative consultant, guiding the aesthetic direction for video, graphic design, and web/wireframe needs.
- Enable cross-functional teams by creating and managing self-service creative assets, such as image templates and tutorial video frameworks.
- Manage and optimize the YouTube channel and broader video strategy, ensuring content is engaging and high-performing.
- Source, manage, and deliver clear feedback to external video editors and designers.
- Partner closely with Developer Advocates, Product, and Brand teams to build creative assets that translate complex technical concepts into compelling media.
- Proactively explore, adopt, and implement modern AI tools and workflows to streamline creative production and content scaling.
- Balance high-level delegation with hands-on creation; directly produce, edit, or design high-priority media assets when needed.
- Design, document, and introduce new creative workflows and guidelines to iterate and improve media creation processes for both video and static assets.
- Travel occasionally (approximately 5-10%) to capture high-quality content at events, including keynotes, presentations, and/or interviews while working directly with executive leadership.
- Directly handle on-site production, including camera operation (DSLR/Mirrorless cameras), audio capture, and lighting setup, or source, hire, and direct local third-party production vendors and crews.
- Successfully balance creative workloads with internal stakeholders and external vendors to meet deadlines.
- Create content for developers that is visually engaging and authentic, avoiding traditional corporate fluff.
- Review and analyze how creative assets perform across various channels (e.g., YouTube engagement metrics, social media, and paid ad performance).
- Use performance data and audience insights to iterate on future creative concepts and improve campaign ROI.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in a creative agency or corporate environment.
- Proven track record in roles such as Creative Director, Media Manager, Post-Production Manager, or Senior Media Specialist.
- 5-7 years of hands-on, practical industry experience demonstrating growth and a strong portfolio of work (if no degree).
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere, After Effects, Photoshop, Illustrator), Figma (for wireframing and design assets), and Canva.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, Slack, and project management software.
- Experience with video recording tooling (e.g., Restream, Riverside, Loom) is a bonus.
- Hands-on experience with or a strong desire to leverage AI tools like LLMs and generative AI creative software.
- Basic to intermediate hands-on experience with video production equipment (cameras, microphones, and lighting).
- Experience vetting, hiring, and budgeting for external production agencies.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to seamlessly translate technical feedback from developers into actionable creative briefs for contractors.
- A fast-paced, remote-first mindset with the ability to juggle multiple priorities, pivot quickly, and deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
