About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Electrical Commissioning Superintendent to join our growing construction enterprise. This role is responsible for all aspects of electrical commissioning for projects, including first-time energization, functional testing, and schedule management. The Superintendent will ensure equipment is energized safely and appropriately to maintain the required sequence and effectively manage the schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and lead field execution of commissioning, including switching, breaker operations, functional testing, and system integration testing.
  • Develop electrical commissioning and testing procedures, including first-time energization.
  • Validate installation and pre-functional checklists for electrical gear (breakers, switchgear, UPS, batteries, generators).
  • Schedule, lead, and troubleshoot functional performance testing (FPT) for electrical systems.
  • Ensure test equipment availability, calibration, and proper usage.
  • Manage third-party vendors for specialized equipment commissioning.
  • Interface with Commissioning Authority (CxA) and Owner's representatives during witness testing.
  • Report progress to the project Commissioning Manager or Cx agent.
  • Direct Cx Technicians and trade partners in field execution.
  • Coordinate system walkdowns, equipment startups, and functional testing.
  • Support Commissioning Manager in reporting and metrics.

Requirements

  • Minimum 8-10 years of electrical construction experience.
  • Experience with energization and switching of electrical equipment.
  • Knowledge of the National Electrical Code (NEC).
  • Experience with Lock-Out/Tag Out (LOTO).
  • Understanding of one-line diagrams and schematics.
  • Ability to review equipment submittals.
  • NFPA 70E Trained.
  • OSHA 30 certification.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Word.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to perform repeated pushing, pulling, carrying, reaching (or working above shoulder), walking, standing, sitting, stooping, kneeling, bending, and climbing.
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle, crane, or tractor.
  • Ability to pass a drug test and background check.
