About the Role
The Sustainability Analyst will join a small, high-impact team responsible for executing sustainability strategy across Jamestown's US portfolio. This broad role involves major workstreams from portfolio-wide data collection and ESG reporting to certification management, investor communications, and property-level project coordination. The Analyst will have direct visibility into firm-wide sustainability strategy and regular exposure to senior leadership. We seek a critical thinker, exceptionally organized individual who can communicate with various organizational levels and confidently own ambiguous tasks. The ideal candidate embraces opportunities to demonstrate leadership and ambition while supporting the ESG team's administrative functions. Existing generative AI skills or an openness to learning and leveraging generative AI is a plus. This role offers a full view of how a sustainability program operates at a leading real estate firm, including strategic decisions, stakeholder dynamics, and operational details.
Responsibilities
- Manage environmental performance data collection, maintenance, and quality-checking across the US portfolio in coordination with property teams and third-party platforms.
- Support preparation of the Annual Sustainability and Social Responsibility Report, including data compilation, fact-checking, drafting, and review facilitation.
- Assist with annual GRESB and UNPRI submissions, including data and evidence gathering, scoring analysis, and project management.
- Prepare ESG performance narratives and fund-level reporting materials, monitoring ESG initiatives and case studies across the portfolio.
- Draft responses to ESG due diligence questionnaires from institutional investors, coordinating with the team and consultants for review.
- Monitor emerging ESG regulations, building performance standards, and incentive programs relevant to US assets, preparing summary memos and recommendations.
- Support implementation of property-level sustainability pilots and projects, tracking progress and learnings.
- Track and manage certification project timelines (e.g., LEED, Fitwel) across the portfolio, coordinating with property teams and external consultants.
- Execute and maintain regular tenant communication for sustainability programming and reporting requirements.
- Support maintenance and improvement of sustainability databases and tracking systems, serving as coordinator for shared documentation, templates, and institutional knowledge.
- Support identification and development of AI-assisted workflows, automations, or templates to reduce manual effort.
- Serve as the coordination hub for the Sustainability team, managing day-to-day workflows, tracking open items and deliverables, and ensuring work progresses on time and on scope.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental Studies, Sustainability, Urban Planning, Real Estate, Finance, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
- 2-4 years of relevant experience.
- Combination of education, training, and experience providing required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
