About the Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Payment Operations Specialist to support high-volume back-office banking operations in a fast-paced financial services environment. This role is ideal for candidates with experience in payment processing, account transfers, KYC/compliance, and banking operations who thrive in a structured, deadline-driven setting. The successful candidate will execute transactions accurately and efficiently while ensuring compliance with internal controls, regulatory standards, and service-level expectations.
Responsibilities
- Execute financial transactions accurately and within established service level agreements (SLAs)
- Process payment operations including wire transfers, EFTs, and e-transfers
- Validate transaction information and perform adjustments within authorized limits
- Support account transfer processing and operational administration activities
- Complete assigned daily and weekly operational workloads with a high degree of accuracy
- Apply KYC, compliance, and operational risk procedures to all transactions
- Investigate non-standard or high-risk transactions and escalate appropriately
- Ensure adherence to internal operating procedures, regulatory requirements, and AML frameworks
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise discretion when handling sensitive client and operational information
- Respond to inquiries from internal partners and stakeholders in a timely, professional manner
- Build effective working relationships across operations, compliance, and business teams
- Escalate operational issues promptly to facilitate resolution
- Identify opportunities to improve workflows and operational efficiency
- Support process enhancement initiatives and share recommendations
- Contribute to knowledge-sharing and cross-training activities within the team
Requirements
- 1–2 years of banking experience in a back-office or administrative operations role
- 2+ years of payment operations experience (wires, EFTs, e-transfers)
- Experience with account transfers
- Strong understanding of KYC, AML, and compliance procedures
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience using SharePoint and/or Confluence
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities
- Previous donation processing experience
- Experience working in high-volume financial operations environments
