About the Role

Responsibilities

  • Clean rooms according to Sandman Hotels standards
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of chemicals and cleaning products, and their correct handling procedures
  • Respond to guest and staff inquiries, requests, and complaints promptly and courteously
  • Record all lost property items found in guest rooms on the worksheet and hand them in to the Supervisor/Manager at the end of the shift
  • Promptly report all maintenance and safety hazards to the Supervisor/Manager to minimize risk
  • Take personal responsibility for equipment, ensuring correct operation and security at all times
  • Report any unusual or suspicious persons/activities to the manager
  • Report any maintenance issues, including burned-out light bulbs
  • Check under beds, drawers, and closets for left-behind articles and trash
  • Clean sinks and fixtures and restock all terry, soap, glasses, comment cards, coffee, and other amenities
  • Clean coffee pots when needed, ensuring they are plugged in
  • Arrange furniture after guest use
  • Ensure security of guest rooms and privacy of guests
  • Perform Laundry tasks when necessary, including collecting, sorting, and transporting laundry at the beginning of each shift
  • Remove laundry from dryers and fold immediately to prevent wrinkling
  • Stock the linen supply room with clean linens for the next day
  • Laundry includes: bed linens, blankets, duvets/comforters, towels & face cloths, and restaurant table linens
  • Wash, dry, and fold all cleaning cloths at the end of the day for housekeeping needs
  • Perform small mending repairs as needed
  • Perform Houseperson duties if required

Requirements

  • No education or experience required; training will be provided one-on-one
  • Ability to follow instruction
  • Good communication skills are an asset
  • Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) is an asset
  • Able to deal with people sensitively, tactfully, diplomatically, and professionally at all times
  • Professional appearance and manners
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada
