About the Role

REI Co-op aims to discover, build, and celebrate better ways of working to help people pursue a love of the outdoors. This role supports employees in living their best lives and shaping the future of the outdoors. The Bike and Ski Shop Mechanic enhances the outdoor experience by providing knowledge, recommendations, and daily customer engagement. This vital team member assembles REI equipment, executes shop services, and delivers exceptional customer service in the shop and on the sales floor. The mechanic contributes to REI's success by servicing and repairing bikes and/or snow sports equipment to industry standards, potentially including rental department work.

Responsibilities

  • Assess customer needs and assist with transactions.
  • Participate in REI's Sales and Service Training and promote REI goods and services.
  • Maintain equipment and ensure a clean, secure, and safe work environment.
  • Produce quality work meeting or exceeding industry standards.
  • Report quality and safety issues to shop managers.
  • Follow REI loss prevention and safety procedures.
  • Work a flexible schedule based on business needs.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Enjoy communicating and building relationships.
  • Demonstrate technical skills and proficiency.
  • Complete required training and certifications.
  • Set practical goals and establish priorities to achieve business objectives.
  • Organize and use resources to meet deadlines and communicate plans and progress.
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
