About the Role

The Electrical Product Development Engineer drives G&G’s electrical product development from concept through production. This hands-on role involves expertise in power electronics, PCB design, and hardware validation to shape product design and reliability. The engineer will thrive in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment, driving electrical design from R&D through production release.

Responsibilities

  • Design electrical circuits and PCBs for LED drivers, control systems, and power electronics.
  • Utilize Altium Designer for PCB layouts and maintain ECAD data.
  • Develop early-phase R&D prototypes and proof-of-concept designs.
  • Create, execute, and document hardware validation plans.
  • Support UL certification for new product development.
  • Drive continuous product improvements through field analysis and root cause investigation.
  • Design and implement production test fixtures for PCBA validation.
  • Manage assigned projects end-to-end, including timelines, risk escalation, and status communication.
  • Own BOM accuracy for assigned products and verify components against design requirements.
  • Validate incoming parts and assemblies against design specifications.
  • Manage and proactively qualify component alternate approvals.
  • Support internal SMT/PCBA processes as a technical expert.
  • Conduct forensic analysis of electrical field returns and internal defects, driving corrective actions.
  • Partner with manufacturing on first-run production builds.
  • Establish electrical test methods and procedures.
  • Provide technical guidance to Sales and Support teams.
  • Reinforce G&G core values.
  • Contribute to the G&G Engineering team, fostering problem-solving and continuous improvement.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineering team members.

Requirements

  • Alignment with G&G Core Values.
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, or equivalent demonstrated experience in power electronics design and PCB development.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience designing switching power supplies, LED drivers, or similar power electronics products.
  • Proficiency in Altium Designer for schematic capture and PCB layout.
  • Strong lab skills, including oscilloscope, bench power supply, DMM, and independent hardware debugging at the circuit level.
  • Experience with UL certification (1598, 8750, or similar) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with EMC testing methodologies (conducted/radiated immunity, IEC 61000 series) is a plus.
  • Embedded firmware experience (C, Python, or similar) is a plus.
  • Experience with industrial LED lighting products or three-phase power systems is a strong plus.
