About the Role

Marks, an sgsco company, is seeking a Project Manager to join their team in Toronto, ON. This role involves managing projects from initiation to completion, ensuring client satisfaction, and overseeing production processes.

Responsibilities

  • Attend client briefings and design presentations, acting as an information source.
  • Manage project budgets and external partner finances.
  • Write work orders and brief projects into the studio.
  • Prepare creative briefs.
  • Manage project timelines and report on delivery status.
  • Oversee circulation and process approvals in a timely manner.
  • Maintain project status reports and attend status meetings.
  • Act as a liaison between Onsites, Marketing, and Studio Teams.
  • Collaborate with Marks/SGS production managers on resource identification.
  • Handle 3D CGI requests as needed.
  • Manage sales samples through sgsco’s printing facilities.
  • Prepare jobs for billing and hand-off to Account Manager.
  • Audit folder structures and archive completed projects.
  • Review and validate mandatory project information before kick-off.
  • Verify accuracy of design briefs and specifications.
  • Gather dielines, copy, packaging specs, and reference materials.
  • Procure assets needed for production and provide solutions for roadblocks.
  • Utilize project management tools for information download and project setup.
  • Ensure accurate information for order entry, including billing and shipping details.
  • Enter accurate data into order entry systems and design briefs.
  • Provide clear and timely briefings to the creative team and external partners.
  • Liaise between creative, external partners, and account teams for missing information.
  • Attend art turnover meetings with Production art/Prepress.
  • Write up revisions and feedback.
  • Maintain detailed project notes in project management platforms.
  • Attend technical reviews and provide insights into project processes.
  • Ensure timely handover of digital files from Design to Production Art.
  • Perform final QA checks on all assets against the client brief.
  • Provide efficient feedback on design files.
  • Participate in meetings to review completed packaging projects.
  • Gather dockets ready for billing.
  • Reconcile bills of lading, expediting charges, and client alterations.
  • Confirm information for PO#, Bill To, and Ship To assignments.
  • Calculate accurate price quotes using client price guides.
  • Prepare jobs for final billing after deliverables are released.

Requirements

  • Completion of post-secondary university or college degree, preferably in graphics/media communication management and/or design or similar.
  • 2-4 years proven experience in client service, preferable in a packaging environment.
  • Strong understanding of Packaging Design requirements.
  • Strong understanding of Flexo, Litho and Gravure printing processes.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Good client service skills and ability to deal effectively with difficult client situations.
  • Willingness to take initiative on projects and passion to constantly learn and grow.
  • Collaborative approach, focusing on solutions.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
