About the Role

This unique actuarial role involves critical rate analysis and development of rate updates for a nationwide insurance program. You will extract, clean, and analyze complex datasets using advanced SQL and Python skills, incorporating property, policy, and geographic information to support data-driven rate recommendations. Responsibilities

  • Execute analyses and conduct research to inform innovative solutions for clients' complex challenges
  • Present findings to peers, project managers, and client relationship managers
  • Play a critical role in rate analysis and development of rate updates for an insurance program with nationwide impact
  • Extract, clean, and analyze complex datasets using advanced SQL and Python skills
  • Incorporate property, policy, and geographic information to support robust, data-driven rate recommendations
  • Collaborate with GIS and catastrophe modeling teams to build and refine predictive models
  • Prepare comprehensive exhibits, charts, and interactive visualizations to communicate findings to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Review data in preparation for analysis
  • Check results for accuracy and consistency (peer review)
  • Draft reports
  • Maintain documentation
  • Perform predictive modeling and non-linear methods using SQL and Python/R to support rate analyses
  • Draft written reports and Excel-based exhibits
  • Prepare other internal/external correspondence
  • Undertake research projects of varying shape and size

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, including quantitative coursework in actuarial science, data science, mathematics, or statistics
  • A minimum of two actuarial exams passed
  • In pursuit of a credential from the Casualty Actuarial Society
  • A minimum of one relevant internship up to four years of professional actuarial experience
  • Substantial expertise with MS Excel and Word
  • Skilled in Python or R and SQL for data analysis
  • United States Citizen(s)
  • Primary residence in the continental United States
  • Able and willing to obtain and maintain a United States Government-issued Public Trust security clearance
  • Intellectual curiosity about risk, Milliman, and the practice's work
  • Inspired to contribute to project success and succeed as a team

Salary/Compensations

  • Overall salary range: $60,300 - $136,160
  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or District of Columbia: $69,345 - $121,555 (less than 2 years experience)
  • Alaska, California, Connecticut, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York City, Pennsylvania, Virginia, Washington, or District of Columbia: $77,740 - $136,160 (2 to 4 years experience)
  • All other states: $60,300 - $105,700 (less than 2 years experience)
  • All other states: $67,600 - $118,400 (2 to 4 years experience)
