About the Role
We are seeking an Associate Product Controller to join our global Finance team, focusing on maintaining financial order and transparency. This role is ideal for an early-career, part-qualified accounting professional looking to enter the commodity trading environment.
Responsibilities
- Assist Legal Entity Controllers with managing business transactions across the UK, US, and Germany.
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash reconciliations for general and subsidiary bank accounts.
- Post cash and accounts payable transactions to the ledger and assist with expense reviews.
- Assist with month-end close activities, including balance sheet reconciliation, substantiation, and journal posting file preparation.
- Update financial data in databases for accuracy and immediate availability.
- Assist with external audit engagements.
- Assist in the continued development of Finance and Accounting systems and procedures.
- Perform margin and collateral posting, and cash flow and daily excess reporting for external counterparties.
- Gain knowledge of operational finance within a merchant trading house.
- Receive on-the-job training in renewables, power, and gas commodity markets.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent experience.
- At least two years of experience assisting with month-end closing activities and balance sheet and PnL reconciliations.
- Tangible experience supporting external audit engagements.
- Examinations completed towards ACCA, CIMA, or ACA qualifications.
- Advanced Excel skills, including experience with process automations and VBA macros.
- Tangible experience with large data sets, including extraction processes from data platforms to Excel.
- Preference for SQL knowledge.
