About the Role

Optiver is seeking a Software Engineer for their Developer Experience team. This role is vital for creating the tools and platforms that enhance development workflows, allowing engineers to operate efficiently and with confidence. The engineer will build infrastructure, tooling, and automation for the entire software development lifecycle, impacting hundreds of developers globally.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain scalable build systems, including core build libraries, CI/CD pipelines, and Docker images.
• Develop tools and integrations to accelerate and streamline the local development-test iteration loop.
• Automate processes to simplify the release and deployment lifecycle for continuous deployment.
• Track emerging trends in Developer Experience and AI, exploring AI-assisted tools and coding agents.
• Define metrics to measure and quantify developer productivity.
• Partner with development teams to identify workflow friction and design solutions for improved setup, iteration speed, and productivity.

Requirements

• Familiarity with designing and optimizing containerized build workflows using tools like Docker, Bazel, CMake, Ninja, Poetry.
• Skilled in building CI workflows on platforms such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.
• Strong coding fundamentals and experience with scripting and compiled languages.
• Experience writing scalable, high-quality software.
• Strong engineering instincts and a deep understanding of the end-to-end software development lifecycle.
• Proven track record of initiating and driving developer productivity improvements through tooling and automation.
• Curious, collaborative, and eager to work in a high-performing environment.
• Comfortable working autonomously and collaboratively.
• Practical approach to solving real-world challenges.
