About the Role

Provides strategic and operational leadership for Japan Operations, ensuring alignment in policies and approach. Accountable for Customer Service, sales order book management, Supply Chain, Demand Planning, Inventory Management, and continuous improvement initiatives. Serves as a senior member of the Japan Management Team and Regional Operations Management Team, supporting the Country GM and regional VP, Operations and Global Supply.

Responsibilities

  • Create a Business Planning Calendar to ensure clear expectations, accountabilities, and timelines within global constraints and commercial expectations.
  • Provide comprehensive Customer Service & Operations support for inventory purchases, overseeing order book production and shipping, and resolving queries.
  • Design, develop, and implement effective Marketplace Planning, Demand Planning, & Inventory Management procedures.
  • Develop, communicate, and monitor Customer Service policies and procedures to ensure best-in-class customer relationship management and maximize profitable sales.
  • Develop a cost-optimized distribution and logistics network without sacrificing service or On-Time-In-Full delivery.
  • Lead and direct activities related to global and regional projects on technology implementation and operational capability optimization.
  • Drive a cohesive approach to seasonal business planning, producing proactive behaviors and better upstream outputs.
  • Oversee the business critical path, identifying and mitigating obstacles to plan achievement.
  • Define and implement policies reflective of market strategy and oversee execution.
  • Collaborate with Sales, Sales Operations, Customer Service, and Finance to build partnerships and resolve complex order issues.
  • Ensure team and individual role profiles and objectives align with business goals.
  • Drive consistency of service, approach, and execution, promoting positive, solutions-oriented teamwork.
  • Build a sustainable demand planning process with local market accountability for accurate forecasting, stock utilization, and inventory levels.
  • Deliver effective analytics and metrics to help stakeholders achieve targets and maintain focus on inventory measures and profitability.
  • Provide effective monitoring of order book status, maintenance, and reporting, highlighting and mitigating issues.
  • Ensure timely execution of the order book from order capture through customer delivery.
  • Develop strategies to optimize inventory flow, reduce freight costs, and improve last-mile delivery performance.
  • Oversee all warehouse operations for accuracy, efficiency, and safety.
  • Manage relationships with 3PL partners and logistics providers, negotiating contracts and ensuring service levels.
  • Oversee the network of warehousing and delivery solutions to execute order book requirements efficiently.
  • Act as a local leader in E2E Planning, Order Management, and Distributions and Logistics projects.
  • Challenge the status quo and deliver future-proof automated solutions.
  • Introduce improvements to ways of working, policies, or systems to raise service levels or productivity.
  • Formulate and execute the strategic roadmap for the supply chain network, including warehouse design, footprint optimization, and transportation strategies.
  • Own local budgeting for operations and projects, partnering with finance and leadership to ensure targets are met.

Requirements

  • Fluent in English and Japanese.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in senior management/directorial responsibility in sizeable commercial enterprises with direct accountability for relevant Operations-linked functions.
  • Significant experience in the footwear/apparel lifestyle/fashion sector and procedures from forecasting to customer operations.
  • Experience as a senior manager in Asian or global business, operating with regional/local sub-structures.
  • Experience with significant change management projects within a complex international organization.
  • Experience satisfying the needs of diverse constituents in a complex global organization, often under pressure of competing priorities.
  • Experience in Sourcing, Logistics, and Planning.
  • Strong people leadership.
  • Ability to develop strategy, anticipate changes, develop contingency plans, and drive execution in a fast-paced, complex environment.
  • Ability to influence and lead in a matrix environment.
