About the Role
MongoDB Pre-Sales Solution Architects guide customers and partners in designing and building scalable systems using MongoDB's data platform. This role involves working closely with field partner leaders to win deals and drive business growth, acting as a trusted advisor to a diverse range of users from startups to large enterprises.
Responsibilities
- Work with advisory consulting partners on reference architectures, patterns, and AI blueprints for optimal MongoDB utilization.
- Articulate the business and technical value of MongoDB solutions.
- Partner with account teams to ensure success in accounts ranging from startups to large enterprises.
- Support sales activities including technical discovery, demos, proof of value, presentations, sizing, and documentation.
- Translate technical concepts and patterns into business benefits for management and executives.
- Act as a liaison, relaying field feedback to the Product Management team.
- Drive demand through participation in industry trade-shows and account-based marketing events.
- Demonstrate resilience and sound judgment in dealing with business challenges.
- Drive customer demand within a sales territory through self-motivation, proactivity, and a sense of urgency.
- Support and mentor other pre-sales team members and share best practices.
- Exhibit situational awareness and react appropriately in group settings.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with technical partners, gaining trust and influencing decisions.
- Understand the importance of driving partner demand within the sales territory.
- Align to drive partner Center of Excellence strategies and create demand for MongoDB solutions.
- Understand partner business models, value, and needs.
- Anticipate and respond appropriately to partner objections.
- Act as a 'Trusted Advisor' with technical partner stakeholders.
- Collaborate to build joint proposals with partners for clients.
- Drive strategy and implementation of solution architecture for products and services within the partner ecosystem.
- Demonstrate technical expertise of general IT and application operations through mentorship of local partner organizations.
- Create strategies that map specific industry trends to account bases within local partner organizations.
- Create strategies that map competitive threats within local partner organizations.
Requirements
- 5 to 8 years of related industry experience, with at least 2 years in a partner-facing role.
- Minimum of 2 years of experience with modern scripting languages (e.g., Python, Node.js, SQL) and/or popular programming languages (e.g., C/C++, Java, C#) in a professional capacity.
- Experience implementing scalable and highly available distributed systems in the cloud and on-premises.
- Demonstrated ability to review complex architecture of existing applications and provide guidance for improvement using technology.
- Excellent presentation, communication, and interpersonal skills, capable of conveying complex technical and business concepts clearly.
- Ability to work with a cross-functional sales team to formulate and execute an end-to-end deal cycle.
- Ability to travel up to 25%.
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
- Experience developing, deploying, or supporting applications with major cloud providers.
- Experience working in a technical pre-sales capacity.
- Experience with database programming and data models.
- Experience in data engineering or AI/ML projects.
- Understanding of popular sales methodologies/frameworks such as MEDDPICC/Command of the Message.
- A MongoDB Certification.
- A Cloud Provider Certification.
