About the Role
This role is accountable for project financial performance and team communication, in partnership with the Project Manager and Project Architect. Responsibilities include developing conceptual designs for all project phases, establishing design direction, coordinating construction document preparation to support design intent, preparing design presentations, and coordinating with agencies affecting design.
Responsibilities
- Originate and develop creative design concepts and documents during the design development phase.
- Support the resolution of design solutions during construction documents and administration phases.
- Assist with the completion of construction documents.
- Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
- Develop solutions to design problems.
- Oversee design team or less experienced designers to ensure design intent.
- Oversee design team to ensure projects are on schedule and within budget.
- Oversee design team to ensure documentation conforms to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards.
- Mentor and direct the work of less experienced staff.
- Participate in professional development reviews and “Lessons Learned” sessions.
- Set up project team software parameters and manage standards.
- Foster a green workplace through sustainable work practices.
- Foster a commitment to external and internal client service.
- Communicate regularly with client representatives to verify design requirements, specifications, progress reviews, and design delivery.
- Prepare and present client presentations, design concepts, and drawings.
- Support marketing and business development activities as needed.
- Provide technical support and project communications to the team.
- Attend on-site visits and client meetings to verify design requirements and deliver design progress reviews.
- Provide support to team members for specific market, discipline, or design expertise areas.
- Assist Project Manager with defining project work plans.
- Participate in team meetings to ensure consistent adherence to design intent.
- Perform as Team Leader on certain projects.
- Lead a small team of less senior designers or technicians in developing solutions to technical and design detail problems.
- Participate in project reviews regarding project costs, budgets, and schedule adherence.
- Track electronic project data and files.
- Facilitate team internal and external project communications.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture or equivalent in education or experience required.
- 5+ years design experience preferred.
- Healthcare experience preferred.
- Licensed Architect with current registration in your region preferred, if licensure is offered.
- NCARB registration preferred.
- LEED accreditation or Green Associate preferred.
- Travel may be required.
- Overtime may be required.

- Expected salary range: $120,000 to $145,000
