About the Role
The Utility Coordinator executes administrative and procedural utility projects from due diligence through final energization. This role manages high-volume applications, ensures data accuracy across internal platforms, and provides critical organizational support to the Energy & Utility team. As a junior-level position, it manages repeatable tasks, adheres to strict project timelines, and is accountable for key project phases within the RACI matrix, bridging acquisition, development, construction, and utility coordination.
Responsibilities
- Manage submission and tracking of load study applications, ensuring real-time accuracy and coordinating results to prevent project delays.
- Maintain accountability for utility pipeline project milestones, proactively identify risks and blockers, and ensure timely submission of utility documentation.
- Maintain accurate project records in Smartsheet, Procore, and other systems for consistent utility status.
- Gather and organize technical equipment data and cost benchmarks to support energization estimates for Energy & Utility Managers.
- Support maintaining utility standards documentation, ensuring technical documents and site requirements are organized and accessible to engineering teams.
- Facilitate the technical redline process, coordinating feedback between internal stakeholders and third-party engineers, and ensuring accurate capture and filing of redlines.
- Assist in collecting and analyzing utility tariff data and energy usage information for operational cost evaluations.
- Coordinate pre-construction site walks and inspections, and schedule final energization with utility crews and field technicians.
- Manage new utility account setup and facilitate billing information transition to the operations team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, Construction Management, or a related field/experience.
- 3–5 years of experience in project coordination, utility administration, or construction management.
- Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume, repeatable tasks and maintain complex project timelines with high attention to detail.
- Experience using project management tools to track project health and maintain data integrity, ideally with Procore and Smartsheets.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to hold external utility partners accountable to project schedules.
- Experience or strong working knowledge of the power and energy sectors, including electrical utilities, grid infrastructure, and energy project lifecycles.
- Experience with drafting software (e.g., Bluebeam) for interpreting site layouts and utility schematics.
