About the Role

This role focuses primarily on applying structural mechanics to the development and maintenance of superconducting MRI magnet products and technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Perform detailed mechanical design and analysis for superconducting MRI magnet systems, including cryogenic vessels, coil, and component support structures.
  • Develop and validate structural models for static and dynamic loading conditions using advanced engineering analysis methods to assess stresses and meet allowable material limits.
  • Execute product development activities including requirements management, FMEA, risk mitigation, prototype development, verification, validation, and documentation of design inputs/outputs.
  • Collaborate with external vendors and internal manufacturing teams on prototype fabrication, industrialization, and qualification activities to implement new designs.
  • Investigate and resolve field-related structural issues while contributing to cross-functional R&D teams throughout all phases of product development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s, Master’s, or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or Physics
  • 5+ years of experience solving complex multidisciplinary engineering problems
  • US work authorization is a precondition of employment
  • Must reside in or within commuting distance to Latham, NY

Salary/Compensations

  • Pay range for this position in Latham, NY is $102,000 to $163,000.00
