About the Role
Tom James Custom Clothing is seeking a skilled Tailor or Master Tailor for their Southfield, MI sales office. The ideal candidate will excel in tailoring high-end garments with exceptional attention to detail in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Perform alterations on men's and women's suits, shirts, coats, blazers, dresses, and trousers.
- Shorten/lengthen and taper sleeves.
- Taper sides of garments.
- Lower collars.
- Adjust trouser waist, seat, and rise.
- Taper trouser thighs and foot widths.
- Assist sales professionals with fittings.
- Manage all interactions with professionalism.
- Track detailed alteration production daily.
- Press finished garments, remove threads, and prepare them for client readiness.
- Complete all work promptly to ensure customer delivery dates.
- Maintain a clean work environment and required paperwork.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of tailoring experience in a retail or customer-service environment.
- Strong working knowledge of garment construction in men's and women's apparel.
- Ability to perform high-quality workmanship by hand and by machine.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Self-starter.
- Able to perform multiple tasks efficiently with strong organization of time.
- Must be able to work quickly in a fast-paced office environment.
- Offer of employment contingent on passing a background and credit check.
- Employment offer includes a 90-day review of tailor's work.
