Responsibilities

  • Welcome, assist, and answer inquiries from associates, visitors, and staff professionally.
  • Respond to calls for service across the University’s campus community promptly.
  • Serve as a Title IX mandatory reporter, reporting alleged discrimination or harassment based on sex or gender, including sexual assault, to the Title IX Officer.
  • Ensure building security by locking interior and exterior doors after hours.
  • Patrol campus grounds during assigned shifts and resolve identified issues quickly.
  • Support facility reopening by unlocking exterior doors as needed.
  • Complete a daily activity log with detailed summaries of work conducted per shift.
  • Provide student, staff, and faculty escort service using Academy assigned Patrol vehicles.
  • Provide break coverage for Campus Safety Hosts and Patrol colleagues as needed.
  • Identify and suggest potential improvements to enhance campus safety.
  • Assist with special event coverage as assigned.

Requirements

  • Possess a valid and active California Guard Card.
  • Possess a valid California driver's license and be insurable under the Academy's provider.
  • Ability to pass a driving test.
  • Minimum of two years of professional experience in a related field.
  • Ability to effectively communicate policies and safety procedures to a broad population.
  • Ability to use sound judgment in difficult situations and solve problems effectively.
  • Ability to demonstrate exceptional customer service.
  • Ability to manage time well and prioritize competing tasks.
  • Ability to walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk several city blocks at a time.
