About the Role
Supports strategic marketing, communications, and storytelling initiatives to enhance brand awareness, stakeholder engagement, student recruitment, and organizational impact across KIPP Capital Region. Provides administrative, project management, and content creation support for digital communications, social media, marketing campaigns, and internal/external communications efforts.
Responsibilities
- Write and support the development of high-quality, compelling long-form and short-form content.
- Develop and publish ongoing internal and external stories highlighting achievements, culture, and impact.
- Support the creation and execution of annual communications plans and monthly content calendars.
- Gather in-person content for digital storytelling, including interviews, quotes, photos, and videos.
- Draft and distribute communication materials, including newsletters, press releases, blogs, talking points, feature stories, op-eds, and website content.
- Serve as a central point of coordination for internal and external communications.
- Assist in developing proactive messaging strategies.
- Support emergency and crisis communication efforts.
- Support and execute donor engagement through communications.
- Support the development and execution of strategic marketing campaigns.
- Assist with creating and implementing digital marketing campaigns across social media, email marketing, websites, search and display advertising, streaming audio, and video platforms.
- Develop, manage, and maintain social media content calendars, templates, guidelines, and branding standards.
- Create engaging digital and print marketing materials.
- Use email marketing platforms to design newsletters, email campaigns, and communication templates.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to update and maintain the organization’s website.
- Monitor analytics, engagement data, and campaign performance.
- Support the execution of multimedia campaigns through photography, video, graphics, and digital storytelling strategies.
- Protect and promote the KIPP Capital Region brand.
- Support efforts to increase brand visibility, public awareness, and stakeholder engagement.
- Assist with managing the organization’s social media presence.
- Maintain organized archives of photos, videos, marketing assets, media coverage, and public relations materials.
- Coordinate the sourcing, procurement, and distribution of promotional materials and branded items.
- Support media relations efforts.
- Manage photo and video shoots at the school and regional level.
- Partner with school leaders, academic teams, talent teams, operations, development, and regional leadership.
- Meet with internal stakeholders to determine communication priorities, establish project scopes, and develop strategic messaging and campaign plans.
- Support initiatives that strengthen internal communication systems.
- Assist with community engagement efforts.
- Support recruitment and enrollment campaigns.
- Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure communication strategies align with organizational goals, regional priorities, and student outcomes.
- Manage multiple communications and marketing projects simultaneously.
- Support the planning, coordination, and execution of communication and marketing timelines, deliverables, and campaign calendars.
- Assist in managing marketing and communications budgets, vendor relationships, and project workflows.
- Maintain strong organizational systems for content planning, campaign management, asset organization, and communication tracking.
- Continuously evaluate and improve communication processes, systems, and strategies.
- Perform other duties as outlined by the Director of Communication and Organizational Impact.
- Comply with all charter, federal, state, and local laws and regulations, including the NYS Department of Education, Department of Health, and NYS Office of Children and Family Services.
- Adhere to organization policies and procedures; promote and support mission, vision, and values, including developing and participating in internal surveys and data collection for continuous improvement initiatives.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field.
- Minimum 1-3 years of experience in marketing and communication leadership, public relations, corporate communications, and educational marketing.
- Proven track record of developing and implementing successful marketing campaigns.
- Experience with Canva and Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google Suite.
- Interest in working in a dynamic and supportive work environment.

- Ability to work a flexible schedule outside of regular business hours.
- Aptitude to create and work within an inclusive environment that honors and supports a diversity of backgrounds and perspectives.
- Preferred experience working directly with students, preferably in the charter, private, or public school environment.
- Prior experience working in schools and urban communities is preferred.
