Responsibilities
- Negotiate and draft complex development and production agreements, including joint venture contracts, music co-publishing and master recording agreements, and merchandising licensing agreements with Japanese production committee members.
- Negotiate and draft contract agreements in both Japanese and English.
- Share and communicate financial terms, contractual risks, and obligations (payments, rights limitations, etc.) for newly acquired or domestically/internationally produced content with internal departments including content, legal, finance, marketing, licensing, and programming.
- Manage contract terms for each deal and update negotiation status on the internal tracking system.
- Provide business-wide advice and support based on broad knowledge of the entertainment industry in a constantly changing business environment.
Requirements
- Over 10 years of practical experience in licensing, production/manufacturing, business affairs, or legal affairs within the Japanese entertainment industry.
- Over 8 years of team management experience.
- Practical experience in drafting, negotiating, and interpreting/applying joint production and license agreements.
- Deep passion for anime, Japanese culture, and the entertainment industry.
Skills
- Japanese language proficiency (native or business level - reading, writing, speaking)
- English language proficiency (motivated to improve reading, writing, and speaking skills for practical use)
