About the Role
The Art Gallery of Ontario is seeking a Cleaner to join their Facilities Department team. This role involves performing various cleaning duties to maintain the cleanliness and functionality of the museum, including housekeeping, event setup/dismantling, and building exterior maintenance.
Responsibilities
- Washes and waxes floors, vacuums carpets, cleans furniture and fixtures, collects garbage and recyclables, and cleans windows, doors, walls, and other surfaces using proper equipment, chemicals, and techniques.
- Cleans washrooms, including cubicles, mirrors, fixtures, waste receptacles, walls, and floors. Replenishes paper products, personal hygiene items, and soap.
- Monitors public areas during open hours to maintain general cleanliness and restock supplies.
- Cleans kitchen appliances in serveries, staff lounge, and the Grange. Launders Grange linens and housekeeping items as needed.
- Tests and evaluates new cleaning products.
- Sets up and dismantles furniture and equipment for events in a safe and efficient manner.
- Delivers, installs, and dismantles furniture and equipment for events, office moves, and personnel or public use safely and efficiently.
- Vacuums, mops, and cleans areas before and after furniture is set up or dismantled.
- Maintains building exterior by sweeping walks, collecting garbage, and clearing leaves and snow.
- Identifies and reports irregularities with washroom and other facilities to the supervisor.
- Cleans and maintains job equipment, reporting any irregularities or repair needs to the supervisor.
- Delivers items to and from all areas of the building.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of cleaning procedures, equipment, and products.
- Ability to operate lifting aids, and potentially a scissor lift or other lifting devices.
- Knowledge of safe material handling practices.
- Ability to follow verbal and written directions.
