Responsibilities

• Delivers nursing care to patients of varying age groups utilizing the nursing process and practice standards.
• Maintains competency and applies scientific knowledge to meet patient needs.
• Demonstrates organizational skills to ensure efficient workflow.
• Supports hospital, department, and nursing unit philosophies.
• Conducts care assessments and interprets data to determine care needs and constraints.
• Completes system-based and hospital-specific competencies.
• Maintains accurate documentation of observations, treatments, teaching, medications, care given, and patient response.
• Evaluates, plans, directs, and provides wound/ostomy care in collaboration with patients and families.
• Implements a plan of care based on established standards, policies, and procedures, considering cultural, religious, psychosocial, physical, and age-related issues.
• Possesses knowledge of medications and administers them safely and accurately.
• Performs, delegates, and supervises routine treatments for wound/ostomy care services.
• Evaluates patient outcomes and revises the plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family.
• Negotiates with patients, families, and healthcare team members to resolve conflicts related to patient care or organizational issues.
• Acts as a resource for employees, students, and residents, demonstrating an appreciation for the hospital's mission as a teaching institution.
• Supports patient and family-centered care, promoting this environment and including family/patients in the plan of care with necessary teaching and support.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited school of nursing upon hire.
• BSN required.
• Registered Nurse license in KY upon hire.
• Basic Life Support - CPR certification upon hire.
