Responsibilities
- Delivers nursing care to patients of varying age groups utilizing the nursing process and practice standards.
- Maintains competency and applies scientific knowledge to meet patient needs.
- Demonstrates organizational skills to ensure efficient workflow.
- Supports hospital, department, and nursing unit philosophies.
- Conducts care assessments and interprets data to determine care needs and constraints.
- Completes system-based and hospital-specific competencies.
- Maintains accurate documentation of observations, treatments, teaching, medications, care given, and patient response.
- Evaluates, plans, directs, and provides wound/ostomy care in collaboration with patients and families.
- Implements a plan of care based on established standards, policies, and procedures, considering cultural, religious, psychosocial, physical, and age-related issues.
- Possesses knowledge of medications and administers them safely and accurately.
- Performs, delegates, and supervises routine treatments for wound/ostomy care services.
- Evaluates patient outcomes and revises the plan of care in collaboration with the patient/family.
- Negotiates with patients, families, and healthcare team members to resolve conflicts related to patient care or organizational issues.
- Acts as a resource for employees, students, and residents, demonstrating an appreciation for the hospital's mission as a teaching institution.
- Supports patient and family-centered care, promoting this environment and including family/patients in the plan of care with necessary teaching and support.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited school of nursing upon hire.
- BSN required.
- Registered Nurse license in KY upon hire.
- Basic Life Support - CPR certification upon hire.
