About the Role

The Small Engine (General Tool) Repair Technician is responsible for producing strong and reliable tools to help customers get the job done right. This role involves inspecting, testing, and diagnosing equipment, addressing issues efficiently, and ensuring all equipment meets quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair all of Stephenson’s General Tool equipment including demo hammers, tampers, drills, aerators, lawn and garden equipment.
  • Ensure all equipment is rental-ready and meets set quality and safety standards.
  • Follow appropriate checklists and procedures, referring to owner’s manuals and schematics.
  • Operate and test equipment under actual operating conditions when possible.
  • Provide guidance to Service Technicians on required service/repairs.
  • Assist in making decisions related to equipment retirement.
  • Possess excellent product knowledge and effectively transfer this knowledge to customers, explaining features, benefits, safe operating techniques, and promoting related accessories/products.
  • Treat every customer in a fair and consistent manner, resolving issues as they arise.
  • Support in-store merchandising initiatives, including pricing, inventory control, and product placement.
  • Follow all paperwork and computer procedures related to equipment servicing.
  • Maintain all inventory control documents to preserve the integrity of the rental management computer system.
  • Participate in and ensure daily “COMPASS” is complete.
  • Maintain a safe working environment by following Safety Commitments, PPE requirements, and all SOPs and Policies.

Requirements

  • 2 years of experience working with small engines, electrical repair, manual and power tools, or similar.
  • Valid G-Class (ON)/Class 5 (AB) Driver’s License with a clean abstract.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs on a regular basis.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
