About the Role

AutoScout24 is modernizing a critical, real-world domain where software decisions directly reduce operational friction and unlock new business opportunities. We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to build and lead a full-stack team reimagining auto repossession systems—making them smarter, more automated, and increasingly AI-assisted. This role is for someone who thrives in fast-moving environments with ambiguity, asks sharp questions early, and leads through clarity, trust, and technical judgment. You won’t just run a team—you’ll multiply its impact.

Responsibilities

  • Build, hire, and grow a team of full-stack engineers working with modern .NET on AWS
  • Create an environment of trust, psychological safety, and high standards
  • Coach engineers to take ownership—not just complete tickets
  • Transform engineering teams to be curious about the problems they solve and the outcomes to reach
  • Own delivery end to end: velocity, quality, reliability, and long-term maintainability
  • Partner tightly with Product, Design, and Data to ship incremental value fast
  • Reduce manual operational effort and unlock new automation and AI-enabled capabilities
  • Guide architecture and technical decisions across services and systems
  • Review PRs, challenge assumptions, and raise the quality bar
  • Balance short-term delivery with long-term system health
  • Navigate legacy systems alongside greenfield development
  • Make progress with imperfect information—and help your team do the same
  • Ask the right questions to turn uncertainty into clarity
  • Encourage and model the use of AI and Generative AI to improve engineering productivity
  • Integrate AI-driven tools into daily workflows—code generation, debugging, reviews, documentation, and decision support
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive work and streamline development processes
  • Take a proactive, hands-on approach to exploring and adopting AI tools that meaningfully improve efficiency and quality for yourself and your team

Requirements

  • 2+ years leading engineers as an Engineering Manager or Tech Lead
  • Measure success by how effective your team becomes
  • Take responsibility for outcomes, not just execution
  • Hands-on experience with full-stack development
  • Production experience with modern .NET and cloud platforms (AWS preferred)
  • Solid understanding of microservices, distributed systems, and SRE practices
  • Comfortable getting hands-on when needed—without defaulting to it
  • Not afraid of legacy systems, and motivated to improve or replace them
  • High bar for code quality, testing, and system design
  • Clear, direct communicator with empathy and conviction
  • Comfortable giving and receiving feedback
  • Curious, pragmatic, and biased toward action
  • Own a meaningful problem space, not just a team
  • Have room to shape systems, culture, and technical direction
  • Work with peers who value judgment, curiosity, and impact
  • Apply AI where it actually matters—to reduce toil and increase leverage, not for demos
  • Build leverage through people, systems, and smart use of AI
  • Operate comfortably in ambiguity
  • Stay close enough to the work to influence quality
