About the Role
As a dedicated People Partner for SumUp Pay, you will work closely with the Tribe Lead and senior leaders to build and execute a people agenda for an incubation-stage team. This role offers the opportunity to shape how a fast-moving team hires, develops, and grows its people from the ground up, with ownership and direct influence.
Responsibilities
- Support the people strategy for the Consumer tribe covering engagement, career development, manager capability, and workforce planning.
- Adapt existing SumUp people programmes, including leadership development and career frameworks, to fit the team's current size, pace, and stage.
- Partner closely with Talent Acquisition to keep SumUp Pay’s hiring plan on track by setting cadence, unblocking issues, tracking metrics, and reporting progress.
- Act as the trusted go-to person for people decisions across the tribe, supporting leaders with performance, development, and team health.
- Use AI tools thoughtfully to improve and scale key people processes, experimenting and iterating to bring new ways of working to the team.
Requirements
- Experience working as a People Partner or HRBP in a fast-growing organisation.
- Track record of balancing strategic thinking with hands-on execution.
- Knowledge of talent and performance management processes, career development frameworks, and employment law, particularly across the UK.
- Ability to build trust and credibility quickly with senior stakeholders.
- Ability to influence decisions without direct authority.
- Comfort adapting company-wide programmes to fit a smaller, fast-moving team.
- Proactive in spotting people risks before they become problems.
- Analytical thinking to back up recommendations with data.
