About the Role

CBS Austin seeks a motivated, energetic, creative, and aggressive General Assignment Reporter to grow and empower audiences. The ideal candidate develops story ideas, gathers information for newscasts, possesses sound writing skills, a strong work ethic, and excels in live shots and breaking stories.

Responsibilities

• Create, shoot, write, and edit meaningful stories for newscasts across multiple platforms
• Provide news on-air as directed by the news management team
• Engage with local community members
• Review material for fairness, accuracy, and balance
• Collaborate closely with the news team, including Producers, Editors, Anchors, and News Directors

Requirements

• Proven knowledge and experience with current media creation tools and contemporary newsroom systems
• Ability to excel in storytelling across multiple platforms
• Strong writing and copy-editing skills
• 2-4 years of experience as a Multimedia Journalist or Reporter
• Ability to work well under pressure to meet strict deadlines
