About the Role

Camp Towhee is seeking a dynamic and experienced Waterfront Program & Lifeguard Supervisor to lead and coordinate the Waterfront Program. This role involves overseeing water-related activities, ensuring staff and participant safety, and contributing to the overall camp experience for youth with mental health issues complicated by learning disabilities.

Responsibilities

• Oversee the planning and implementation of all water-related programs and offsite trips involving water, including staff and participant safety.
• Oversee free swim, ensuring lifeguard ratios and adherence to policies.
• Provide direct supervision, feedback, and written evaluations to team members.
• Participate in the development of staff training and team-building activities.
• Assist in other camp areas, including direct supervision of campers during mealtimes, evening programs, bedtime routines, and night supervision.
• Provide coverage for absent Waterfront & Woods team members.
• Assist in other camp programming as needed.
• Adhere to all Camp Towhee policies, practices, and procedures.
• Act as a positive role model.

Requirements

• Two (2) or more years of post-secondary education or equivalent experience.
• Previous professional experience working within a camp environment is strongly preferred.
• Experience working with children and/or youth, preferably the target population.
• Personal, professional, or educational experience in a related field (education, recreation, social work, psychology, etc.).
• Experience implementing behaviour/social/emotional interventions and using counselling skills.
• Ability to assume responsibility and exercise good judgment in decision-making.
• Must have a current and valid police record check with vulnerable sector screening.
• Must have or acquire Standard First Aid with CPR C.
• Demonstrated ability to work respectfully with diverse groups.
• Current National Lifeguard (NL) certificate, or commitment to obtain prior to contract start.
• ORCKA Basic Canoeing Level 3 and Canoe Tripping Level 1 are strongly preferred.
• Experience with kayaking, canoeing, swimming, and tripping.
• Offers of employment are contingent upon the successful completion of a Vulnerable Sector Check.
• All CDI employees are required to be fully vaccinated against measles.
