About the Role

Serve as a technical expert supporting underwriting teams, clients, and the broader cyber re-insurance strategy. Responsibilities include risk assessment, methodology development, incident response, advisory services, and underwriting to enhance the cyber underwriting approach.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct in-depth assessments of cyber and IT-related risks across industries, using independent research on emerging technologies, threat landscapes, and market developments.
  • Inform underwriting decisions and promote subject matter expert services to business partners, ensuring alignment with end-customer needs, market trends, and underwriting guidelines.
  • Deliver high-quality cyber underwriting by translating complex risk assessment outcomes into actionable recommendations, including appropriate (re)insurance terms and conditions.
  • Identify, evaluate, and benchmark the effectiveness of security controls against evolving threats, attack vectors, and mitigation strategies.
  • Continuously enhance cyber risk assessment methodologies, frameworks, and questionnaires.
  • Provide analytical support on cyber coverage language and its alignment with current threat trends, loss scenarios, and portfolio exposures.
  • Collaborate with global cyber experts and cross-functional teams to deliver cutting-edge underwriting expertise and drive local partner growth.
  • Support internal training and knowledge-sharing initiatives to build cyber underwriting capabilities across the region.
  • Deliver cyber security guidance, training, and strategic advice to internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Represent Munich Re at industry events and conferences; conduct trend scouting and publish topic papers on emerging threats and technologies.
  • Evaluate emerging solutions like inside-out scanning and open-source threat intelligence to support data-driven underwriting practices.

Requirements

  • Degree in IT Security, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Familiarity with major cyber risk frameworks (e.g., NIST CSF, MITRE ATT&CK, ISO 27001) and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Multiple years of experience in security consulting, cyber risk management, cyber insurance, or cyber incident response.
  • Ability to contextualize cyber threats by region and industry, factoring in geopolitical risk, regional regulation, and local IT maturity.
  • Ability to translate threat intelligence into insurance-relevant impact scenarios.
  • Minimum 5 years of client-facing experience with a strong client-centric approach to business development.
  • Proven ability for proactive self-learning and adaptability to new technologies and emerging risks.
  • Hands-on experience in driving innovation and product development.
  • Strong teamwork skills and knowledge-sharing mindset.
  • Willingness to travel internationally.
  • Fluent in spoken and written business English and Mandarin.
