About the Role

In this role, you’ll play a key part in delivering independent, insightful assurance across Acenda Group’s governance, risk management, and control processes. With exposure across the entire organisation and direct interaction with senior leadership and the Board, you’ll have the opportunity to influence outcomes and drive meaningful improvements.
Responsibilities
- Build and maintain strong, professional relationships with Senior Management throughout audits and ongoing engagement.
- Support the delivery of end-to-end Internal Audit assignments in line with established methodologies, processes, and success criteria.
- Ensure all audit work is performed with high standards of professionalism, technical competence, and due care.
- Produce findings that are evidence-based, well-researched, and aligned to risk context and materiality, ensuring appropriate management attention.
- Deliver insights that are timely, commercially sound, value-adding, and clearly articulated in reports.
- Apply a data-driven and thorough approach to testing, focusing on key processes, dependencies, and root causes rather than symptoms.
- Strengthen risk awareness within business areas and drive accountability for addressing identified issues.
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of risk culture and conduct risk within financial services.
- Provide practical advice on remediation actions and monitor follow-up to ensure effective implementation.
- Contribute to complex or special audit projects and support reporting activities for the Chief Audit Executive, including reports and Board papers.
Requirements
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in assurance, ideally within Internal Audit, with capability to deliver end-to-end process and compliance reviews.
- Experience within the Life Insurance industry is highly regarded.
- Strong experience with Japanese Sarbanes-Oxley (J-SOX) frameworks is highly desirable and critical to success.
- Solid understanding of the financial services landscape, including regulators and evolving regulatory requirements.
- Exposure to technology auditing and data analytics, including emerging tools such as AI and machine learning, is advantageous.
- In-depth knowledge of internal and external audit methodologies, with a track record of delivering value-added outcomes.
- Excellent written, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong understanding of operational risks, including identifying emerging risk areas.
- Demonstrated customer service mindset and ability to engage effectively with stakeholders.
- Relevant tertiary qualifications (Accounting, Finance, IT or similar) with CA/CPA and/or Internal Audit certifications (CIA, CISA) and IIA membership considered advantageous.
- Provide two references.
