About the Role
This role is responsible for the overall management and creation of employee work schedules for Flight Dispatch and Weight and Balance, including managing vacation, shift, and training bids. The position also manages the absenteeism program for front-line employees in these departments.
Responsibilities
- Develop and manage monthly employee schedules for Flight Dispatchers and Weight and Balance agents in accordance with applicable collective agreements.
- Ensure consistent application of the collective agreement regarding scheduling and absenteeism.
- Analyze schedule requirements to maximize manpower and minimize overtime.
- Manage annual vacation bids, recurrent training, and shift bids for both groups.
- Manage the absenteeism program, including reviewing attendance, identifying patterns, and coaching employees.
- Collaborate with managers to identify employees with pattern absenteeism for escalation.
- Manage and coordinate activities to achieve excellence in attendance.
- Ensure employees understand absenteeism and accommodation policies, collective agreements, and legislation.
- Manage the scheduling of competency checks, annual recurrent training, and other regulatory requirements.
- Validate and review bi-weekly pay summaries, overtime, and vacation adjustments, and submit entries to HR.
- Provide timely resolution to employee inquiries and act as an escalation point for HR-related issues.
- Maintain thorough documentation, accurate reporting, coding, and audits.
Requirements
- Post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field (Aviation, Operations, or Business).
- 3+ years of experience in airline operations.
- Excellent written and oral English communication skills.
- Experience working with people at various organizational levels.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Understanding of the airline and managed groups' responsibilities.
- Proven leadership and managerial courage.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and electronic mail.
- Knowledge of collective agreements and managing a unionized workforce.
- Punctual and dependable in a fast-paced environment.
- Eligible to work in the country of interest and responsible for obtaining necessary work permits/visas.
- Proof of eligibility to work in the country of interest required prior to start date.
