About the Role
The Client Group in Tokyo has an opening for a Relationship Analyst. The successful candidate will be an integral member of our Tokyo team and will be primarily responsible for supporting and strengthening our relationships with institutional clients utilizing the Private Placed Japanese ITM platform. Commanding a thorough knowledge of our business, coupled with strong interpersonal skills, the RA will work closely with the business team on a portfolio of institutional relationships.
Responsibilities
- Assist and partner in core aspects of business development, relationship management, and client servicing.
- Support the governance of the ITM product management framework, partnering with Relationship Managers and internal stakeholders.
- Oversee vendor relationships and SLAs, including trust banks, distributors, accounting agents, and system vendors.
- Conduct periodic oversight and due diligence in line with internal audit and regulatory requirements.
- Manage approvals for fund launches, closures, and distribution payments.
- Manage end-to-end documentation processes for fund-related activities, coordinating with internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Oversight of the day-to-day ITM fund from an operational perspective (NAV calculation, subscription/redemption, etc.) with internal teams and external parties.
- Respond to client/prospect inquiries on a wide range of topics, often under significant time pressure.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with appropriate client/prospect contacts and participate in external meetings.
- Support prospects by qualifying and coordinating aspects of the sales lifecycle, including opportunity qualification, RFP coordination, pitch material coordination, and follow-ups.
- Build internal network relationships and manage internal stakeholders for effective collaboration.
- Effectively communicate client expectations with a variety of internal constituents including portfolio services, legal and compliance, portfolio management, product management, investment operations, trading, and other functions.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of relevant experience in client servicing roles within the investment industry, including Japan ITM.
- Background in ITM structure knowledge is ideal.
- Experience in operational oversight function, including support of compliance-related matters at foreign affiliated investment management firms based in Tokyo, trust banks’ ITM fund accounting/administrative division, and Japanese ITM firms’ fund accounting area.
- Strong interest in investment management, with an analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to independently identify, research, and resolve unfamiliar issues.
- Highly organized with strong attention to detail.
- Able to manage multiple priorities effectively and deliver in a fast-paced, high-capacity environment.
- Demonstrated track record of achievement, strong work ethic, sound judgment, and a high level of professionalism.
- Collaborative team player with a proactive, self-starter mindset.
- Ability to work both independently and within a team-based environment.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present and articulate ideas effectively in both client-facing and internal settings.
- Fluency in Japanese and English (both written and spoken) is essential.
- Strong academic credentials, including a bachelor’s degree.
- Proficiency in Bloomberg, Salesforce, and Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel).
- Strong business judgment, with the ability to communicate clearly, confidently, and creatively in both individual and group settings.
