About the Role
The Legal & Compliance Specialist (12-Month Fixed-Term Contract) provides crucial legal and compliance support to the ANZ organization, working closely with the Head of Legal & Compliance. This role aids in identifying, assessing, and managing legal and compliance risks, contributing to business-critical legal reviews, and ensuring compliant, efficient, and commercially sound outcomes. It acts as a trusted business partner, leveraging legal judgment and compliance expertise with project management and process optimization skills, including the responsible use of AI, to enhance Legal & Compliance operations.
Responsibilities
- Support the implementation of legal and compliance training, communication, and monitoring frameworks.
- Deliver compliance training and provide coaching and guidance to business stakeholders.
- Support offshore compliance review teams by providing ANZ-specific guidance and improving processes.
- Monitor changes to industry codes and regulatory requirements, translating them into practical guidance.
- Act as a Legal & Compliance business partner for the ANZ business, supporting compliant interactions.
- Review legal and commercial contracts and support business functions in assessing change management and legal process improvements.
- Support the review of promotional and external-facing materials for legal and compliance risks.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to provide legal and compliance input.
- Support Legal & Compliance projects and initiatives impacting ANZ, collaborating with global colleagues.
- Contribute to process improvement, change management, and the operationalization of AI-enabled tools within Legal & Compliance.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Laws (LLB)
- 2 – 7+ years post admission experience
- Admitted as a lawyer in Australia (or eligible for a practicing certificate)
- Demonstrated experience advising regulated industries either in private practice or in-house
- Ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and recognize when escalation is required
- Practical experience with or demonstrated transferable skills in compliance program enhancement and operation
- Practical experience with or demonstrated transferable skills in contract drafting, negotiation, and risk assessment
- Practical experience with or demonstrated transferable skills in drafting and interpreting policies, procedures, and internal controls
- Practical experience with or demonstrated transferable skills in interfacing with internal and external regulatory bodies, auditors, and industry bodies
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Experience in the healthcare industry (Medical Device experience) is highly regarded but not essential
