About the Role

The Career Navigator creates a positive first impression for customers entering the Workforce Center or engaging virtually. This critical role effectively triages customers, treats them as a priority, and provides technical assistance and support to workforce staff.

Responsibilities

  • Perform essential workforce services and functions from customer entry.
  • Conduct one-on-one sessions with new customers to identify immediate needs.
  • Conduct initial assessments to determine program enrollment or referral to other services.
  • Collect, analyze, research, and determine program requirements and customer eligibility.
  • Identify employment barriers and customer eligibility for workforce programs and services.
  • Obtain relevant customer information for data entry and prepare customer files.
  • Provide information to co-workers, supervisors, and staff regarding workforce programs and services.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Additional relevant experience may be considered in lieu of required education.
  • Valid driver’s license and proof of insurance with good driving record.
  • Ability to relocate within the service delivery area.
  • Ability to lift up to 10 pounds occasionally.
  • Ability to stand, sit, bend, and walk to perform job scope.
  • Visual acuity, speech, and hearing required.
  • Occasional driving and travel required.

Skills

  • Knowledge of workforce development, economic development, business intelligence and trends, and project management.
  • Knowledge of effective management techniques and practices, including planning, strategy development, implementation, outcome assessment, and accountability.
  • Proficiency in word processing, spreadsheet, technology, and computer skills.
  • Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving, critical thinking, organizational skills, and detail orientation.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to understand and interpret federal and state program eligibility guidelines and requirements, and consistently apply policies and procedures.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with management, coworkers, Board staff, and the general public.
  • Ability to develop strategies and solutions.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (strongly preferred).

Experience Level

  • One (1) year of relevant experience (preferred with undergraduate degree)

Education Level

  • High School Diploma or GED (required)
