About the Role
Provide personalized, one-on-one in-home tutoring to students with special needs. Responsibilities include assisting with daily activities, offering moral support, and delivering tailored instruction based on Individualized Education Plans (IEP).
Responsibilities
- Provide structured instruction in math, including foundational concepts, word problems, and problem-solving strategies.
- Support reading fluency and comprehension through guided practice, modeling, and repetition.
- Strengthen writing skills, including language conventions, organization, and expression of ideas.
- Reinforce social-emotional learning (SEL) skills, including self-regulation, focus, and task completion.
- Incorporate movement breaks and hands-on activities to maintain engagement and attention.
- Tailor instruction to student interests to enhance motivation.
- Collaborate with caregivers and integrate general education homework with individualized learning plans.
- Create a supportive, structured, and positive learning environment fostering confidence and independence.
Requirements
- Bilingual in Mandarin or Cantonese.
- Experience working with students with ASD and other learning differences.
- Skilled in teaching math, reading, writing, and social-emotional skills at the elementary level.
- Patient, structured, and creative, with the ability to engage students with special needs.
- Familiarity with IEP goals and experience implementing individualized learning strategies.
- Motivating and capable of building rapport while maintaining consistent academic expectations.
