About the Role
This role involves exercising discretion and judgment to create model drawings and detailed construction drawings for homes. It also requires performing calculations and analysis to support designs.
Responsibilities
- Create designs from rough sketches, drawings, specifications, and engineering data from Sales and customers
- Draft detailed construction drawings and installations including walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, water, electrical, cabinets, gas lines, duct prints, foundations, and elevations
- Utilize computer-assisted design (CAD) equipment and software to create detailed drawings
- Draft detailed construction drawings of houses and installations such as walls, roofs, floors, plumbing, potable water, electrical, cabinets, gas lines, duct prints, pier blocking, and elevations
- Draft limited approvals and submit to sales and third-party agencies
- Confer with Production and Quality Control staff to resolve design details or problems
- Lay out, redesign, and modify home arrangement, interconnections components, and systems
- Utilize knowledge of various machines, engineering practices, mathematics, building materials, and physical sciences to complete drawings
- Show dimensions, material to be used, and other necessary information for clear and complete detailed drawings
- Generate calculations for analysis of selected designs using approved software
- Submit drawings to third-party agencies for approval
Requirements
- Familiarity with commercial and residential building codes in the US
- Background check is required
- Drug screen is required

- AutoCAD software experience using 2015 or higher

Experience Level
- Two to five years' work experience using AutoCAD software
Education Level
- Associate's degree from a two-year college or technical school with advanced AutoCAD training
