About the Role

Dorsia seeks a Payments Engineer to manage the platform's entire financial layer, including member dining payments, billing, renewals, dining credits, redemptions, operator reconciliation, and corporate account management for B2B products. This role involves developing Dorsia Pay, a proprietary frictionless dining product, and other financial surfaces. The ideal candidate has proven experience building production-level payments infrastructure, understands the full transaction lifecycle, and has experience with hospitality or restaurant tech ecosystems, including POS integration and operations-facing systems.

Responsibilities

  • Own core payments infrastructure for all financial transactions on the Dorsia platform.
  • Design and maintain payment processing architecture, integrating with payment processors, acquirers, and card networks.
  • Manage the membership billing lifecycle, including recurring charges, failed payment recovery, and cancellation flows.
  • Support corporate and B2B billing surfaces.
  • Implement and maintain PCI-compliant data handling practices across all payments.
  • Own integrations with POS systems and restaurant technology platforms, including SevenRooms, Toast, and Square.
  • Build robust, fault-tolerant integration layers for restaurant systems in production.
  • Design operator-side reconciliation and payout flows, with scalable integration architecture.
  • Collaborate with the Finance team on reconciliation, reporting, and downstream workflows dependent on accurate transaction data.
  • Partner with the Security Engineering team on fraud controls, access patterns, and the security posture of the financial layer.
  • Work with the Product team to shape how payments experiences evolve across the member app, operator tools, and overall marketplace.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of backend engineering experience, with at least 2 years focused on production payments systems.
  • Hands-on experience with payment processors and a thorough understanding of authorization, capture, settlement, and end-to-end reconciliation.
  • Experience building subscription or membership billing systems, including failure recovery and lifecycle management.
  • Prior experience integrating with POS or restaurant technology platforms.
  • Working knowledge of PCI-DSS compliance requirements.
  • Clear, direct communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders across finance, operations, and restaurant operators.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, complex environment involving cross-functional projects.
  • Genuine interest in the Dorsia product, the member experience, and building for high-level hospitality.
